We have been sailing to Pawai Bay for 30 years without
the crowds, serving 24 guests maximum, and usually less.
The big boats can't offer the feeling of ohana (family) and personalized
service you will get on Kamanu. Pawai Bay State Fisheries Management
Area is where we've brought visitors for over 30 years. The Fisheries
Management Area means two activities are illegal - tropical fish collecting
for export and fish feeding by humans.
Both of these activities upset the natural balance on the reef, hence
they are banned. The bay is inaccessible by car and is within the
Queen Liliuokalani Trust lands at Kaiwi Point. It is close enough
though, to Kailua and Honokohau Harbor so that we are able to actually
sail back from the bay to the harbor for about 1 ½ hours and still
give our guests about 1 ½ hours of snorkeling time, all on a 3 ½ hour
tour.

Hawaii's
Spinner Dolphins exude an energy and a vitality that has uplifted
man since ancient times. What fun it is to see them dancing on the
waves, caressing each other with their pectoral fins, swimming belly-to-belly
or joyfully burst from the water leaping, twirling and spinning in
the air. Yes, truly incredible and unforgettable experiences you won't
want to miss during your journey to the Big Island!

Imagine
for a moment what it would be like to quietly witness a mother humpback
whale help her newborn calf to the surface of the water to take
its first breath. Or hear the haunting underwater melodies of a
male as it courts a lone female. In another instant, glimpse one
of those gentle giants propel its massive tonnage from the ocean
depths! Yes, truly incredible and unforgettable experiences you
won't want to miss on your journey to the Big Island!
